A client came to us last quarter with 9,000 monthly visitors and four enquiries. The site looked good. That was part of the problem - it looked good and did nothing.
Here is what we audit, in order.
Speed. If your site takes over three seconds on mobile, you lose roughly half your visitors before they see anything. Check Core Web Vitals first, always.
Clarity above the fold. A visitor must know what you do, who it is for, and what to do next - within five seconds. Most sites open with a vague slogan instead.
One clear action. Six competing buttons is the same as none. Decide the single next step you want and make it obvious on every screen.
Proof. Logos, numbers, real testimonials, case studies. People do not buy from strangers; they buy from strangers other people vouched for.
Friction in the form. Every extra field costs you submissions. Ask for the minimum, then qualify afterwards - ideally with an automated follow-up.
No follow-up system. This is the big one. Most enquiries go into an inbox and sit there. The business that replies in five minutes wins the deal far more often than the one that replies next day.
Fix speed and follow-up first. They are the two that move the number fastest.
